Dharma Plow
02:43
|
|||
Once I had a water buffalo
Good for milk but meaner than a cow
Pulled for a bit, lay down in the mud and quit
Had to pull my own dharma plow
Then I got myself a sturdy working horse
We became the best of friends somehow
Then came a wicked storm, she bolted from the farm
Had to pull my own dharma plow
So I got myself a trusty mule
Gonna take it to the field right now
More than a pet but I ain’t named him just yet
Til he can pull my dharma plow
I do the righteous job I’ve been given
Don’t need no applause and I won’t take no bow
I’ll take what help I get to pull my chariot
But in the end it’s my dharma plow

Green Market is 10!
03:53
|
|||
I remember when this market began
I was a much younger, less grayer man
This market sure has got a lot of soul
This little ol’ market is 10 years old
July 2009 sure was hot
I was pickin’ my guitar on this same spot
Got this here brand-new song today
This market sure has come a long way
Lots in our lives has come and gone
But market folks keep on keepin’ on
I was here when we got our start
This market sure has got a lot of heart
This place sure is a home away from home
Friends and family we have become
Oh, the colors and the tastes, the smells and sounds
This little ol’ market is still around
This little ol’ market – come on down!

I Like Doing Laundry
03:07
|
|||
My clothes, they say a lot about me
Meant for living, not for pageantry
My pants and shirts are frayed and torn
They are well-loved, they are well-worn
I may look carefree, but I do care
About clean socks and underwear
I wash and dry and then I fold
I like doing laundry – it never gets old
I got a 20-year-old shirt that’s soft and green
It’s so holey, gotta keep it clean
Got some jeans from the last century
Finest faded blue you’ll ever see
Put on some Allman Brothers, and crack a beer
No one can disturb me here
Can’t hear the doorbell, I turned off the phone
I like doing laundry – all alone
I like to take care of my humble clothes
I like doing laundry – that’s how life goes

Anxious Man 1
02:37
|
|||
Oh, I got a worried mind
But you – you are so kind
You could be the one for me
But I got such anxiety
I’m an anxious man
Whoa – my jaw did clench
When we shared a park bench
You told me to get a monkey wrench
And loosen up – you anxious man
Oh, I fuss and fret
But you ain’t run away just yet
Just might be a future for us
But I am so nervous
I’m an anxious man
You spoke to me, and I wondered how
I’d respond, and you said right now
I want you to unfurrow your brow
And loosen up – you anxious man
You could be just what I’ve missed
Better than a therapist
So hard to just let go
And be with you – because, you know …
I’m an anxious man

Skelly Bones
02:25
|
|||
I got a friend, he ain’t that smart
He don’t have a brain or heart
But he has a grin so wide
Taught me how to look inside
Skelly Bones, Skelly Bones
Skelly Bones – so real to me
Skelly Bones, Skelly Bones
Taught me ‘bout anatomy
I got a friend who’s lean and tall
He ain’t got no guts at all
There to make us more aware
He don’t mind if people stare
Skelly Bones, Skelly Bones
Skelly Bones – sturdy and true
Skelly Bones, Skelly Bones
Shows what a body do
Skelly Bones, Skelly Bones
Skelly Bones – nothing to be afraid of
Skelly Bones, Skelly Bones
Gets right down to what we’re made of

Bitter Herb
02:38
|
|||
Bitter Herb liked the library all to himself
He found a dusty book high up on a shelf
Bitter Herb had no one he could call friend
So he read that dusty book from end to end
Bitter Herb went to the woods with book in hand
Til then he’d only had his mushrooms canned
He saw a pretty girl diggin’ ‘neath a tree
Mary was majoring in mycology
Bitter Herb was a loner, yes he was
Til they picked one together and licked off the fuzz
Herb was bitter as the day was long
Til Mushroom Mary came along
Now they laugh and sing a silly happy song

My Great-Granddaddy
01:57
|
|||
My great-granddaddy was a lot of fun
He was the mayor of Charleston
He was a real good-time pal
Nanny was a more proper gal
On Quarrier Street their home stood proud
Rooms where kids weren’t allowed
Winding stairs to the third floor
Big ol’ attic to explore
He took my first baseball glove
Showed me how to break it in with love
Found his wallet after he died
Newspaper clipping ‘bout me inside
I was about 10 when he passed away
Peacefully on New Year’s Day
I’m glad I got to know him
He’s lookin’ down, I got a song to show him

Cautivo de Amor
03:25
|
|||
Confieso – soy bajo tu hechizo
Y no me importa – se que podria dejar
No estoy avergonzado a ser tu tonto
Yo soy un cautivo de amor
Yo soy un cautivo de tu amor
Estoy cautivado
Felizmente cautivado
Cautivado felizmente
Contigo
I confess – I’m under your spell
And I don’t mind – wouldn’t leave if I could
Not ashamed to be your fool
I am a captive of love
I am a captive of your love

Anxious Man 2
01:37
|
|||
I’m an anxious man – what can a poor boy do?
Each day without my baby feels like 22
I’m an anxious man – I want my baby back
Without her to keep me warm at night
I’m an insomniac
I’m an anxious man – my nerves are all a-fray
Waiting on my baby here on Valentine’s Day

It's Midnight
02:19
|
|||
Got up – cause I could not sleep
Without you next to me
Without you I’m so alone
It’s midnight – you’re far from home
Got up – my mind is a storm
Without you I can’t get warm
Without you it’s such a big ol’ bed
It’s midnight – gotta clear my head
It’s midnight – like time stood still
Til you come back – such a long until
So I’ll write a simple melody
And sing it to the dog lying next to me
Got up – cause you’re gone
So I sat down wrote this song
I sat down in this chair
It’s midnight – I’m here, you’re there

One Song, All Titles
02:47
|
|||
Just breathe as the coffee brews
Be a yogi – what I do
By my side sleepy dog
Perezoso from Foggy Bog
Om namah shivaya – Oh, sweet rain
Do your laundry – you anxious man
Me and God on the dharma plow
Great-granddaddy oh so proud
Leave my igloo – stoned again
With Skelly Bones my old friend
It’s a green market Saturday
Ukulele – lay lay lay
Tan pronto – la puesta de sol
Too soon it’s midnight - insomnia
Liars lie – a bitter herb
Por un cautivo de amor
